Williamson II, Butler & Tuke Halls

ButlerTuke 450px After the demolition of the bulk of Athlone & Cameron Halls (the old dining halls and common rooms, as well as some of the bedrooms above these in Athlone remain) Butler and Tuke Halls were put up to replace them.

The Williamson Hall, first opened in 1973, was also demolished and replaced with a new Williamson Hall.

All were built to a common design and all offer self-catered, single rooms (with large beds), an en-suite bathroom and shared kitchen / diner. The buildings all came into service around 2007 and provide a total of 466 study bedrooms. I recall paying £63 per term (£189 per year) for my room in halls in 1970, this included breakfast and a main meal. Today these rooms cost £186 per week - with no catering!
